1. First time clients tend to get nervous. Truth is, when people are in a completely new and unfamiliar environment, they will get nervous more or less depending on their personalities. Just try to make yourself comfortable. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, we recording engineers are very friendly people and will try our best to help YOU get the best result possible.

2. Get prepared. This seems like common sense but I’ve had artists come to the studio still trying to figure out melody lines for the chorus, let alone you will be paying more money for studio time, afterwards you may not be satisfied with what you came up with under stress. However, If you don’t mind paying studio rate for that missing inspiration, we certainly don’t either.

3. Record demos, no need to get fancy, your phone will suffice. Hearing yourself will give you an overall idea of how you sound and which parts need improvements

4. Be well rested the day before session, seriously, I can never stress this enough, it’s so much more important than you may think. I know I know, we are musicians, we like to party, but please take a good rest before the day of recording for your absolute best performance.

5. Call it off when you think you are still not satisfied with results but it’s not possible to get any better without taking some rest. While it’s true that maybe after a few more really ,really committed tries you can finally get that chorus to sound exactly right, you need to know when you've reached your limit. If it’s not an urgent project, call it off, take some rest and come back tomorrow. You’ll find yourself going out of the studio with much better results and less money spent.
